A coalition of European electrolyser manufacturers and their suppliers warns that the EU’s green hydrogen market is nowhere near reaching 2030 targets, unless the bloc expands support for the sector in its forthcoming Clean Industrial Deal.
“While some electrolyser (giga)factories are under construction, others that are fully built sit idle due to the lack of orders,” the Electrolyser Partnership warns in a letter to the European Commission.
This is despite Europe being much further ahead than many other regions when it comes to not only targets for green hydrogen, but also having billions of euros in subsidies across the supply chain and definitions for what will count as “renewable” H2.
