French soft wheat export forecast downgraded again

The state agency FranceAgriMer has again reduced its forecast for soft wheat exports from France in the current season: from 9.76 million tons to 9.74 million tons, which is 42% less than last season’s figure.

Soft wheat exports to non-EU countries will fall to 3.5 million tons this season (-66% from last season). Exports to other EU countries will amount to 6.14 million tons (-3%).

The sharp decline in wheat exports is due to the poor harvest and high competition from Russian grain. In the current season France harvested only 23.42 million tons of soft wheat of non-uniform quality. Last season, the harvest reached 31.87 million tons.
