Kazakhstan has limited re-export of Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov. The measure operates within the framework of a ban on imports of wheat from the EAEU countries, introduced until the end of 2024.
This information was published in the response of the head of the Government of Kazakhstan to the request of deputies who asked to take measures after the introduction of restrictions from Russia. In his information, O. Bektenov said that at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on the part of Rosselkhoznadzor discussed cases of unjustified unilateral return on Kazakh agricultural products, as a result of consultations, the Commission gave the authorized bodies recommendations to lift restrictions as soon as possible.
Prime Minister also noted that earlier, in order to protect the domestic market, Kazakhstan introduced a ban on imports of wheat from countries of the Eurasian Economic Union until the end of 2024. The ban limited the re-export of Russian grain to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China.
Prime Minister also informed the deputies that Kazakhstan increased the level of unified tariffs for transit transportation of goods through its territory for the EAEU countries in the current year. For example, for the transportation of grain from Russia to Kyrgyzstan on the territory of Kazakhstan tariff has doubled.
