Gandhinagar: To ensure that farmers receive the fair value for their crops, the government has now started purchasing cotton at support prices. Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI), a public enterprise under the Government of India, will procure cotton at support prices until September 2025.
The Government of India has announced a support price of ₹7,471 per quintal for cotton. Farmers in the state who wish to sell cotton at this price must register on the Cotton Corporation of India’s e-market portal through designated purchase centers by March 15, 2025. Cotton will be procured at the support price only from farmers who have registered within this period.
The Cotton Corporation of India has set up purchasing centers for farmers in the Ahmedabad zone at Bahadarpur, Bavla, Bodeli, Chansma, Dabhoi, Dahegam, Dhandhuka, Dholka, Handod, Harij, Himmatnagar, Idar, Jadar, Kalediya, Kapadvanj, Karjan, Kosindra, Kukarmunda, Mansa, Naswadi, Nizar, Palej, Pavijetpur, Samalaya, Sathamba, Talod, Wadali, Walia, Vijapur, and Visnagar.
Similarly, purchasing centers in the Rajkot zone have been made functional at Amreli, Babra, Bagasara, Rajula, Savarkundla, Damnagar, Timbi, Khambha, Gariyadhar, Mahuva, Palitana, Umrala, Talaja, Botad, Dhasa, Ranpur, Gadhada, Bhanvad, Una, Dhrol, Jam-Jodhpur, Jamnagar, Kalavad, Manavadar, Anjar, Bhuj, Mandvi, Halvad, Morbi, Wankaner, Porbandar, Dhoraji, Gondal, Jasdan, Jamkandorana, Jetpur, Kotda-Sangani, Rajkot, Upleta, Chotila, Dhrangadhra, Limbdi, Wadhwan, and Lakhtar.
