Revenue officials have begun the search for suitable land for the Compressed Biogas Plant (CBP) proposed to be established by Reliance Group in Kakinada district. Biogas is produced from organic waste, and it will be used as fuel for vehicles and industrial purposes.
Recently, Reliance Group signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish 500 CBP units across the State under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024.
Speaking to The Hindu, Kakinada District Collector Sagili Shan Mohan said at least 50 acre is needed to establish the unit, and the maximum acreage required is 1,000 acre. “The size of the proposed plant depends on the availability of land in Kakinada district,” said Mr. Shan Mohan.
