Shillong: In an operation, troops of the BSF Meghalaya have intercepted four vehicles carrying a large quantity of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh near the tri-junction at Shnongpedding, in the border area under East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya, reports Manosh Das.
"During the operation, troops of the 4th battalion on Monday seized four trucks loaded with 15,000 kg of sugar worth over Rs 6 lakh in the Dawki border area," a statement issued by the BSF Meghalaya said on Tuesday. The seized sugar, along with the vehicles, was handed over to the customs office in Dawki for further investigation and legal action, the BSF informed.
